MyFord Touch Owners to Receive New Upgrade

2011 and 2012 Ford Edge and Explorer owners with the MyFord Touch infotainment systems will begin receiving this week in the mail a special package from Ford – a complete software system upgrade.

The new system takes about an hour to install and can easily be installed by the owner by following the instructions that come with the package. The owner is instructed to park the car in a well-ventilated place and turn the car on. Insert the USB drive that Ford has mailed and the software will automatically download. The car has to remain running the entire time the software is downloading, so maybe take a book, a crossword puzzle or a friend to occupy your time while the software goes to work. Once completely installed, the system will prompt you to acknowledge a few things and then remove the USB drive.

If you vehicle has an SD-card based navigation system, then Ford will also send a new SD card. This card will contain new navigation maps which will work more effectively with the new system software.

The upgrade should have better connectivity through voice commands. The touch screen will require a definite “touch” to activate touch controls, and the screens will be easy to read and will load faster. Early reports from users indicate that the software does dramatically improve the overall high-tech experience of the MyFord Touch system.

Owners will have the option of having the installation handled by our service department. Please call us at 918-445-2700 to schedule a time for installation and be sure to bring the package that was mailed by Ford. Also, contact Vincent Hennigan, our Ford Technology Consultant, at 918-445-6081 for more information.
