NEW YORK, April 10, 2012 – Ford and Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO), the premier digital media company, today announced a new program to promote the launch of America’s most fuel-efficient five-seat car, the Focus Electric, with “Plugged In,” Yahoo!’s first reality competition series.

Ford has won four 2012 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards – more than any other automaker. Ford took top honors as Most Family-Friendly Brand; Best Exterior Design Brand, Non-Luxury; Best Interior Design Brand, Non-Luxury; and, for the fourth year in a row, Most Rugged Truck Brand. The Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards recognize automakers’ outstanding achievements in creating and maintaining brand attributes that capture the attention and enthusiasm of the new-vehicle buying public.

Beginning in January 2012, commercial drivers are prohibited from use of hand-held cellphones and new requirements are going into place concerning texting while driving – and new vehicle technology is actually helping all drivers to drive more safely.

A joint rule from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is the latest action endorsed by the U.S. Department of Transportation that aims to end distracted driving. This federal ban on cell phone took effect January 3, 2012. Legislators from many states are trying to get these laws extended to all drivers in all states.

There’s hope for General Motors small truck enthusiasts. That’s essentially what Pickuptrucks.com reports today, suggesting that we’ll see a next-generation GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado in the U.S.

Not long ago, GM decided that production on the midsize truck would end with the current generation in mid-2012. But recent reports suggest that the company has decided to leverage its new small truck platform being built in Thailand later this year, resulting in a new Canyon and Colorado — if the trucks keep those names — in the 2014 model year.

Maybe you're not looking for a sweet deal on a stand mixer or an electric razor this Black Friday. Perhaps you have a more substantial purchase in mind. You know, even bigger than, say, a new flat-panel TV. Suppose you decide to avoid the mall entirely and instead head to one of your local car dealers. Are there deals to be had on Black Friday? According to a report by CNNMoney.com, the answer is yes. As writer Peter Valdes-Dapena reports, some dealers will wholeheartedly embrace the frenzied lunacy of Black Friday. (One New York-area Honda retailer he spoke to plans on sending bike riders in gorilla suits wearing sandwich boards to one of the big electronics chain stores in the hopes of driving some traffic to the showroom.) Many plan for additional ad spending around the occasion. Oth...
