The all-new 2012 Focus is poised to lead the C-car segment (the compact car segment). With increased power, better fuel economy, head-turning design and game-changing technology – this new 2012 Focus has it all!
As you probably know, the Ford Focus was introduced in 1999 and rolled onto American car lots in 2000. A very capable compact car for the United States, but the vehicle was also driven and sold all across Europe. Based on Ford's One World mission, Ford has been combining platforms and putting the best of what it knows into every vehicle. Our German engineers had a lot of input on this new model. A former Ford SUV plant in Michigan was gutted and rebuilt from the ground up just to build this new Focus. With its debut at an auto show earlier this year, some critics said the interior was nicer than an Audi A4. Ford is creating a Focus that is worlds apart from the competition. Here are some of the class-exclusives: Available Sync; Available dual USB ports; Available factory-installed Wi-Fi capability; Available RCA video input jacks; Available 8-inch center stack LCD touch screen display; Available Active Park Assist; Easy Fuel capless fuel filler; Available HD radio with iTunes tagging; Available Forward Sensing System; Integrated blind spot mirrors and Standard direct fuel injection. An it has two industry-exclusives: standard MyKey owner control features and available Sync with MyFord Touch technology.
The styling changes are apparent at first glance. There is a much more aggressive front grill, swept-back dragon's eye headlamps, a muscular beltline wraps down the side of the car and the car is offered in four-door sedans or hatchback models. The interiors are impressive with the use of soft-touch materials with well-designed knobs and buttons.
The powertrain is a 2.0-liter inline4 with 160 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission is offered in lower trim levels, and a six-speed dual-dry-clutch automated manual transmission is available for the SEL and Titanium models. There are four trim levels, the S base model (list prices range from $16,995 to $18,090), the SE which has a few more options (list prices range from $17,995 for the manual sedan to $20,280 for the loaded hatchback), the SEL which offers a good range of options (list prices range from $20,995 to $23,280) and the new trim level, the Titanium, which offers almost everything you would want (list prices range from $24,760 to $29,080).
The interior combines gun metal and piano black trim and the construction is well ahead of the Honda Civic. The technology offers five-way controllers, touch screen (optional) and voice activated (optional) which is miles ahead of the Toyota Corolla. The Chevy Cruze is a fine machine but its conservative in its look and feel compared to the Focus. The Cruze engine produces 138 horsepower and the Focus' tuned European-inspired suspension and electronic power-assisted steering combined with Torque Vectoring Control will literally run circles around the Chevy.
The proof, they say, is in the driving... so this is where you need to get in the driver's seat of this vehicle. The powertrain, in combination with the European handling, gives a World-Class feel to compact car.
A new and expanding component of the Ford driving experience is the plethora of technology. No other small car can match the available MyFord Touch infotainment system. This machine safely gets you down the road, leads the way with voice-activated navigation and about every available option for sound – AM, FM, CD, mp3 CD, USB, and Bluetooth. This is the kind of electronics you would only find on the upscale luxury cars, but you can get it in a Focus! Take that BMW 3-Series owners.... a fully-loaded Focus Titanium with navigation and MyFord Touch offers as much or more in technology, a competitive luxury feel and costs about $13,000 less than the BMW!
